On May 26, 27, and 28th the Parkland Soccer Club held tryouts for the 2015 - 2016 competitive soccer season. The club had an enthusiastic response from the community with over 375 total participants attending some or all of the sessions.
Parents and players alike were greeted by a team of volunteers that assisted with the check-in process and helped players find their assigned fields. Despite the high number of participants, parents reported that the process was smooth and no one had to experience any long wait times.
Once checked-in players moved to their assigned fields to participate in the evaluation process. A team of over 20 licensed coaches developed and managed training sessions for the players. Sessions changed nightly as the tryouts progressed. The process started with a focus on drills and progressed to small-sided games and finally full field scrimmages. All of these activities were designed to give the coaches ample and varied opportunities to evaluate the participants.
By the numbers, PSC had over 375 participants at the try-outs. Based on the participation the club anticipates fielding over 25 teams! Potentially we will have 19 boys teams and 7 girls teams for ’15 - ’16 season.
The PSC board, Travel Leadership Committee, and professional managers would like to thank all the coaches, parents volunteers, parents, and participants for a successful tryout. We look forward to serving all club participants and a successful season.
